Soon after leaving Congress and joining BJP, former cricketer turned political leader Kirti Azad has started exposing the Congress.
Kirti Azad was asked by Rahul Gandhi to campaign for Congress in Biharand he exposed his own party in a public rally. Azad is a 2 term MP from Darbhanga in Bihar and has been associated with the ruling BJP for over decades but was expelled from BJP in 2015.
Soon after joining Rahul Gandhi led joining Congress, cricketer-turned-politician Kirti Azad has claimed that the workers of Rahul Gandhi-led party had looted polling booths for him during the late 1990s, way before EVM(Electronic Voting machines) were introduced in the Indian electoral system.
As soon as BJP spokesperson Dr. Sambit Patra came to know of this, he lashed out at party president Rahul Gandhi on social media.
Two days after joining Congress, cricketer-turned-politician Kirti Azad shocked the Congress by saying that the workers of the Rahul Gandhi-led party had looted polling booths for him and his late father.
“In those days booths were looted, Congress workers used to loot polling booths for Nagendra ji (former Congress leader). Booths were looted for my father as well and in 1999, for me also, EVMs had not been introduced then. It was not a big deal back then, but now it’s not possible because of the introduction of EVMs,” Kirti said as he addressed a rally in Darbhanga, Bihar.
Adding to Kirti’s comments regarding ‘Congress workers looting polling booths’, BJP spokesperson Dr. Sambit Patra blamed Congress party president Rahul Gandhi on social media. He commented that Congress wants EVMs out of the poll just because they want to loot polling booths as they did way back.
This statement given by Azad at a Bihar rally is surely going to put Congress down in the state as it has been disgraced publicly by its own leader. Congress may now consider taking severe action against newly joined Kirti Azad.
