In a shocking incident, Congress leader Hardik Patel was slapped at a public meeting in Gujarat today (Friday, April 19) morning. Patel was slapped in Gujarat’s Surendernagar district during a Jan Aakrosh Sabha.
Television visuals showed Patel was slapped when he was addressing the gathering. Hardik Patel was delivering a speech in Gujarati when suddenly a man walked up to the stage and slapped him. The man then pushed Hardik Patel a few times before people intervened. A video of the incident has been tweeted by news agency ANI.
In the video, the man can be seen shouting angrily at Hardik Patel after slapping him and trying to manhandle him. Later, people present at the venue got hold of the man and he was beaten up. Police had a tough time trying to rescue him. He was later taken to a local hospital. The man who slapped Patel has been detained, reports said.
“Ye BJP wale chahte hain ki mujhe maar diya jaye. Mujh par hamle karwa rahe hain. Lekin hum chup nahi rahenge (The BJP wants to see me dead. They are orchestrating attacks on me. But I will not remain silent).” Hardik Patel later filed a police complaint against the man.
Earlier on Thursday, a man hurled shoe on BJP leader, during a press conference at BJP headquarter in New Delhi. The man who hurled shoe on the leader identified himself as a doctor by profession.
Shakti Bhargava, the man who hurled a shoe at BJP leader GVL Narasimha Rao yesterday (Thursday, April 18) in New Delhi, is himself facing inquiries by the Income Tax Department in connection with buying properties, undisclosed income and unaccounted money.
Shakti Bhargava is the controller of Bhargava Hospital and many other companies. He hurled a shoe at GVL Narasimha Rao when the latter was addressing a press conference about Malegaon blast accused Sadhvi Pragya joining the BJP and the party fielding her from Bhopal. Congress has fielded party stalwart Digvijaya Singh from the same seat.
