Past few weeks have seen a lot of happenings in the politics of West Bengal; this article will take a close look at the happenings in the state just before the election.
After the formation of mahagathbandhan(grand alliance) in the state of West Bengal, the state has turned into a battleground between the ruling BJP(Bhartiya Janta Party) and TMC(Trinamool Congress) led by Mamata Banerjee.
A lot of questions were raised by journalists, common Indians and leading politicians soon after the formation of mahagathbandhan but after the formation of the alliance a sequence of events have taken place, which have created a stir not only in the state of Bengal but also in the entire nation.
BJP party president Amit Shah’s chopper was not allowed to land in Bengal, soon after that permission was denied to Yogi Adityanath as well. This simply shows that chief minister of state Mamata Banerjee has become highly susceptible of BJP leaders’ movements and election campaigns.
This rarely happens that chief minister denies permission to senior leaders of opposing parties to campaign in their state. This reluctance by Mamata Banerjee also shows her fear of facing the BJP in the upcoming elections. This move by the party has created a very negative impact about Mamata Banerjee and tarnished the image of her party in the view of people.
BJP leaders have been planning to campaign in the state for upcoming Lok sabha elections for a long time, but denying them to express themselves publicly in rallies and meetings has given a chance to the right wing supporters to stand up against Mamata’s dictatorial regime in West Bengal.
Her own involvement in Saradha financial scam and Rose valley scam has already embarrassed TMC a lot. Her support of Kolkata police commissioner Rajeev Kumar in context of chit fund scam cases has exposed her in public view.
TMC will face a tough challenge from the BJP led NDA in the forth-coming elections and BJP’s open confrontation with TMC is expected to damage the party even further. TMC might have to resort to defensive measures to save its face and put up a strong show in the elections.
