The state of Uttarakhand is considered to be Dev Bhoomi (Land of God), where sins committed elsewhere are washed away.
Though still in its infancy and coming to formation, Uttarakhand is on its way of getting the dubious distinction by various kind of contributions irrespective of good or bad by the most famous political leaders in Uttarakhand.
Nityanand Swami: – During his tenure as Chief Minister, the Indian State of Uttarakhand was called as Uttaranchal. Swami was the first Chief Minister of the state from 9 November 2000 to 29 October 2001. Swami belonged to Bharatiya Janata Party.
Bhagat Singh Koshyari: – Koshyari an Indian Politician represented Bharatiya Janata Party in the Indian state of Uttarakhand where Koshyari served as the 2nd Chief Minister of Uttarakhand from 2001 to 2002. He was also the first State President for BJP in Uttarakhand.
Narayan Dutt Tiwari: – N.D Tiwari belonged to Indian National Congress and has served as Chief Minister of the Indian State of Uttarakhand from 2002-2007. He has also served as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh thrice. His efficient and sparkling political career certainly makes N.D Tiwari one of the most famous political leaders in Uttarakhand.
Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri: – Khandurihas served as the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand twice i.e. from 2007-2009 and 2011-2012. He represents the Garhwal Parliamentary Constituency of Uttarakhand and is an active member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Khanduri also distinguishly falls in the category of top 10 famous political leaders in Uttarakhand.
Ramesh Pokhriyal: – Ramesh Pokhriyal “Nishank” belongs to Bharatiya Janata Party and has also served as the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand from 2009-2011. Pokhriyal with his effective governance and administration made himself to be the top 10 famous politicians in Uttarakhand.
Vijay Bahuguna: – Bhauguna is former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. He was 6th CM to be assigned this office. Bahuguna belonged to Bharatiya Janata Party.
Harish Rawat: – A five- time Memberof Parliament, Harish Rawat has served as the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand from 2014-2017.
Trivendra Singh Rawat:- Trivendra Singh is the eighth and the current Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. Rawat is an active member of Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh and also Bharatiya Janata Party.
