Governor of Tripura

There is a list of the Governors of Tripura, a state of the northeast India, since its start as a region on 21 January 1972.

B. K. Nehru (21 January 1972 – 22 September 1973): Braj Kumar Nehru MBE, ICS was a leading Indian representative and Diplomat of India to the United States (1961–1968). He served as a first governor of Tripura from 21 January 1972 – 22 September 1973.

L. P. Singh (23 September 1973 – 13 August 1981): L. P. Singh member of the 1936 batch of the Imperial Civil Service and he even though served as a prolonged and eminent career in the Indian Administrative Service. He was a governor of Tripura during 23 September 1973 – 13 August 1981.

S. M. H. Burney (14 August 1981 – 13 June 1984): Sayed Muzaffar Hussain Burney worked as a civil servant, was a Rajyapal of Tripura from 14 August 1981 – 13 June 1984.

K. V. Krishna Rao (14 June 1984 – 11 July 1989): General Kotikalapudi Venkata Krishna Rao, PVSM, served as a former Chief of the Indian Army. He held the post of governor or Tripura and continued from 14 June 1984 – 11 July 1989.

Sultan Singh (12 July 1989 – 11 February 1990): Sultan Singh was a prominent political leader. He was also a member of the Punjab Legislative Council and later became a member of Rajya Sabha. He was the fifth governor of Tripura 12 July 1989 – 11 February 1990.

K. V. Raghunatha Reddy (12 February 1990 – 14 August 1993): K. V. Raghunatha Reddy wan an eminent politician. He was three terms as Member of Rajya Sabha of Andhra Pradesh. He was a Governor of Tripura from 12 February 1990 – 14 August 1993.

Romesh Bhandari (15 August 1993 – 15 June 1995): Romesh Bhandari served as an Indian Foreign Secretary, and also was a Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and ex- Rajyapal of Tripura during 15 August 1993 – 15 June 1995.

Siddheswar Prasad (16 June 1995 – 22 June 2000): Professor Siddheshwar Prasad was a famous political leader from the Indian National Congress. He was the Governor of Tripura from 16 June 1995 – 22 June 2000.

Krishna Mohan Seth (23 June 2000 – 31 May 2003): LT. GEN. Krishna Mohan Seth, (Retd) was a governor of Tripura from 23 June 2000 – 31 May 2003. He is a highly ornamented officer of the Indian army who commanded counter-rebellion operations in Nagaland.

Dinesh Nandan Sahay (2 June 2003 – 2009): Dinesh Nandan was a leading police officer who moved to politician and also served as a DGP of Bihar. He became a governor of Tripura and stayed from 2 June 2003 – 2009.

Kamla Beniwal (15 October 2009 – 26 November 2009): Kamla Beniwal is a top Indian politician. She was a member of the Indian National Congress party. She was a governor of Tripura from 15 October 2009 – 26 November 2009.

Dnyandeo Yashwantrao Patil (27 November 2009 – 21 March 2013): Dnyandeo Yashwantrao Patil was Congress party leader and served as a governor of Tripura from 27 November 2009 – 21 March 2013.

Devanand Konwar (25 March 2013 – 29 June 2014): Devanand Konwar is an eminent and senior congressman from Assam and the later Governor of Tripura who continued his office from 25 March 2013 – 29 June 2014.

Vakkom Purushothaman (30 June 2014 – 14 July 2014): Vakkom Purushothaman is a great Indian political figure and also was a Governor of Tripura held from 30 June 2014 – 14 July 2014.

Padmanabha Acharya (21 July 2014 – 19 May 2015): Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya is a popular leader of the political party. He is at present serving as a Governor of Nagaland. Earlier he was a governor of Tripura during 21 July 2014 – 19 May 2015.

Tathagata Roy (20 May 2015 – 25 August 2018): Tathagata Roy is a well-known political leader of Bengali Origin, and now serving as Governor of Meghalaya. He also served as a Governor of Tripura 20 May 2015 – 25 August 2018.

Kaptan Singh Solanki (Active since 25 August 2018): Kaptan Singh Solanki is the current Governor of Tripura and active since 25 August 2018. He is a famous political leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He is also a member of the Parliament of India and at present representing Madhya Pradesh State in the Rajya Sabha.
