About Odisha Elections

Bharatiya Janata Party won 33 percent votes whereas, Biju Janata Dal got 40% vote in current Zilla Parishad Elections. BJP got more votes in 45 MLA and 7 MP areas whereas BJD got more voted in 95 MLA and 14 MP areas.to win BJP needed 30 more seats. There are 8 MLA seats where the margin is lower than 2 percent, 17 more where margin is 2-5 % and 22 where margin is between 5-10 %. BJP can target the 37 seats to get additional seats.

Historically, BJP’s performance in Lok Sabha its performance in MLA Election, performance in local body election has been gradually improvising. So if the mood remains the same, BJP’s performance will be better than 45 seats.MP and MLA elections are being held together. Prime Minister Narendra Modi seemingly has the highest approval rating from Odisha. Simultaneous MP and MLA elections will help Bharatiya Janata Party. Currently the mood of BJP is exciting and BJD is worrisome, so BJP should do better than current performance.

Somethings which can go against BJP are:

1 No BJP leader has approval rating as CM close to Naveen Patnaik.

2 There are 58 seats where lead of BJD is more than 10%, add couple of urban seats it will be more than 60. So it needs to win another 15 seats to win Odisha.

The Odisha Legislative Assembly Elections of 2014 was held along with Indian General Elections, 2014. All 147 Assembly Constituencies were contested. Out of which 74 seats are needed for a majority win.  After elections, Biju Janata Dal gained majority and incumbent Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik once again took oath as Chief Minister of the state of Odisha.

For the upcoming 2019 state elections, BJP is pretty confident of winning 120 of the 147 Assembly seats in Odisha.
