Prime Minister Narendra Modi today (Saturday, April 20) slammed West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC head Mamata Banerjee for fooling the innocent people in the name of ‘Maa-Maati-Manush’. Speed-breaker Didi has lost her sleep after the first two phase elections in the Bengal, PM said.
Speaking about the death of BJP worker in Purulia, PM said, “In Purulia, a BJP worker was murdered. I want to assure each West Bengal BJP worker& people of the state that justice will be done. Strict action will be taken against those people who are responsible.”
A 22-year-old BJP Yuva Morcha member Sisupal Sahis was found hanging from a tree in Senabana area of Arsha village in Purulia region on Thursday. Police have started an investigation to ascertain the cause of death. Earlier on April 8, body of a 42-year-old man was found hanging at the booth office of the BJP in Siliguri district of the state.
Last month, BJP had urged the Election Commission to declare West Bengal as a “Super Sensitive” state.
“It is shameful that people from the neighbouring country are campaigning for the TMC. This was done by the party to appease the minority community,” Modi said.
Popular Bangladeshi actor Ferdous Ahmed, who was expelled by the Indian government, has apologised for campaigning for a candidate in West Bengal, terming it as an “inadvertent mistake” and a step taken out of love of the people of the state.
The Indian government on Tuesday issued a ‘Leave India’ notice to Ahmed and cancelled the business visa given to him for allegedly campaigning for a Trinamool Congress candidate in the state. The actor has also been “blacklisted” by the Union Home Ministry, jeopardising the chances of his future travel to India.
Another Bangladeshi actor Ghazi Abdul Noor was on Thursday asked to leave India immediately after he attended a political rally in West Bengal.”Appropriate action is also being taken regarding his overstay in contravention of visa rules,” a home ministry official said.
PM Modi also slammed the Mamata Banerjee government for asking the proof of the Balakot air strike in Pakistan and asked her to, instead, collect evidence against those behind chit fund scams.
West Bengal is having elections in all seven phases since April 11. Elections will conclude on May 19. The results will be announced on May 23.
