Political History of Haryana

Haryana is one of the wealthiest states of India and has the third highest per capita income in the country. Haryana is bordered with Punjab and Himachal Pradesh in North, and Rajasthan to the south-west.

The beautiful city Chandigarh is being the capital of Haryana and Punjab and in NCR (National Capital Region) city of Faridabad is the most populous city and the city of Gurugram initially known as Gurgaon is the Financial Hub with major Fortune 500 companies in it.

The name Haryana is derived from the Sanskrit word Hari (the Hindu God Vishnu) and ayana (home), meaning “Abode of God”. Haryana was formed on 1 November 1966. The Indian government set up the Shah Commission under the chairmanship of Justice JC Shah on 23 April 1966 to divide the existing Punjab.

Haryana is also known as Haryana Shakti. The state has produced many Hero for the nation. Haryana is now considered as the sports hub of the nation.In the defense sector Haryana has added many stories, many soldiers in the Indian Army has Haryana people included.In a way the state is leading in serving the nation. The Jat Regiment of the Indian Army Is an infantry regiment and is also one of the longest serving and most decorated regiments of the Indian Army. The regiment has won 19 battle honors between 1839 and 1947 and post-independence 5 battle honors, eight Mahavir Chakra, eight Kirti Chakra, 32 Shaurya Chakras, 39Vir Chakras and 170 Sena Medals.

Haryana is one of the economically well-developedstates as the GDP ranks 2nd in the country. The state has also tight connection to the Indus Valley Civilization. It has been uncovered that the Harappa civilization started from Rakhigarhi and there are traces of it also found in Hisar district. The current population of the state is more focused on agriculture than education. Another historical imprint from the facts of Haryana is that the state has been a major contributor to the Green Revolution in the 1960s.

Not limited to agriculture, many industries from steel to paper, from textile to plywood have their base in Haryana. Despite this development, Haryana is yet to be well connected via airways to the rest of the country.
