With abundance of natural resources in Assam, ample manpower and a huge scope of tourism, the state of Assam still seems to be less effective and the low speed of efficiency and also many area of the state needs upliftment. With congress ruled the state of Assam nearly for 15 years uninterruptedly, much more of improvised work still needs to be done. Political parties in Assam has been for a longer time respectively, but with less of work executed. After the congress era came to an end, it’s the Bharatiya Janata Party who is in governance and is one of the most powerful parties in Assam. Major Political Parties:

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP): – The Bharatiya Janata Party is currently in governance in the state of Assam, where the elected Chief Minister is Sarbananda Sonowal. This is one of the most famous political parties in Assam which won 86 seats out of 126 seats in Assam Legislative Assembly.

Indian National Congress (INC): – Assam Pradesh Congress Committee was formed in June 1921. INC is one of the most popular political parties in Assam. Previous government was formed by Congress which won 26 seats in last election.

Asom Bharatiya Janata Party: – This party is a breakaway group of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Assam. ABJP was founded by senior BJP leader and former Deputy Inspector General of police, Hiranya Bhattacharya in 2001.

Asom Gana Parishad: – AGP was formed after historic Assam Accord of 1985 and was formally launched at the Golaghat Convention, where Prafulla Kumar Mahanta was elected as Chief Minister of the state.
