Well, we all know that every profession is having a certain retirement age for each employee. But when it comes to politics, this rule becomes invalid.
It is true that with age comes maturity; it is even said that year of experience makes a person much more efficient but is it fair enough to occupy a seat based on those following points? This debatable issue has drawn in quite a number of opinions, each varies from the other.
A person seating in the chair of a minister for more than 20 years knows the inside out of the political situation. On the flip side a young person who is ready to join politics has seen the outside world a lot more than an old person seating on the chair of a minister. This young person knows what the common people want. Therefore, with a little guidance he or she can better a great politician.
Since power plays a major role in deciding who will step down and who will stay back in politics, at times it becomes tough to remove the high end leaders, even if they have aged a lot. According to few people, the politicians should stay back for a long time;their opinion is backed by real time proofs. Over the years we all have seen that how efficiently political leaders like Gandhiji, Jawaharlal Nehru and many more have dealt with crises situation. How they have controlled crowed after a chaos or how they have helped out disaster hit victims. Now the big question arises will a young person be able to handle things so proficiently? After all it takes years for someone to learn about the human behavior before they can come to a proper decision.
The debate will continue till the common people are given a chance to judge. This is high time that few people occupying the political chair for a long time retires after a certain age and let the young generation take over. Till the time this happens the question ‘should politicians have a retiring age’ will always remain a great source of discussion without any proper answer being found.
