BJP or the Bharatiya Janata Party is one of the two major political parties of India. There are a number of Muslim politicians in BJP. It consists of the BJP Minority Morcha as its minority wing. This includes Sikander Bakht, Abdul Alim Khan, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Syed Shahnawaz Hussain, M. J. Akbar, Arif Beg, Farooq Khan, Aslam Gurukkal as well as Asifa Khan. Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi born on 15th October, 1957, is currently the Union Minister of Minority Affairs of the country. Naqvi was put into prison in the year 1957 during Emergency in the state of Maharashtra because of his political activities. In the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government, he was posted as the Minister of State for Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.In 2016 he was elected to the Rajya Sabha. Finally he became the Minister of State for Minority Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs under Narendra Modi ministry on May 26, 2014.
Sikander Bakht (born on the 24th of August, 1918), was elected to the Lok Sabha as a Janata Party candidate in March, 1977. This was from Chandni Chowk of New Delhi. Later when the party split in 1980, he chose to be with the BJP. He was appointed as the General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party and made its Vice President in the year 1984. He was awarded with the Padma Vibhushan in 2000. He died in 2004.
Abdul Alim Khan he was fondly called Khan Saheb. He made it difficult for the opposition by participating in the Chinchpokli constituency in Legislative Assembly. He led various gatherings in the country as a BJP member. He was respected among the allies like Shiv Sena as well as rival political parties. He died at a young age of 43. He has been among the most famous Muslim leaders in Bharatiya Janata Party.
Syed Shahnawaz Hussain is the national spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party as well as a former Cabinet Minister. He did a Diploma in Engineering from the cities of Patna and Delhi and studied higher secondary from the Williams High School of Supaul. He was the youngest cabinet minister ever in the Government of India.
Arif Baig was another leader of the BJP. He was also a federal Indian Minister. In the year 1989, he was elected in the Lok Sabha from the constituency of Betul. He hails from Madhya Pradesh.
Farooq Khan is a former BJP member who now administers the Indian Union Territory of Lakshadweep. He has been in-charge of the BJP Minority Morcha. He has also been in-charge of BJP’s affairs in the state of Nagaland. He has been a former IPS in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Asifa Khan who belongs to Bharuch of Gujarat, is a prominent personality of the Muslim face of the BJP. She has done post graduation in the field of English Literature. She has been a part of journalism for 17 years. She is the first Muslim woman to be appointed to Gujarat BJP’s executive committee in the year 2013.
