Valentine’s Day or 14th February will witness the initiation of poll campaign in Rajasthan by both Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi.
Rahul Gandhi will start his election campaign in Rajasthan from 14th February, when he will be having a meeting in Ajmer. Whereas, Modi’s meetings in Rajasthan might even get delayed.
Rajasthan has 25 Lok sabha seats, all of which were won by the BJP in 2014 due to the Modi wave. However, Congress made a comeback by winning 100 seats in the Vidhan Sabha elections held in December 2018 in the state, though BJP managed to get a clear majority in Rajasthan in 2013 Vidhan Sabha elections.
Rajasthan happens to be the largest state in India in terms of area and has been a stronghold of the BJP for many years but upcoming elections is likely to witness a close contest between the BJP and ruling Congress.
Sachin Pilot is the president of Rajasthan State Congress Party and also the Deputy Chief Minister whereas veteran Congressman Ashok Gehlot is the chief minister. Both these leaders are going to be in charges of Congress campaign in upcoming elections.
Former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje is expected to play a major role in making BJP win as many seats as possible in the state. Elections in Rajasthan are likely to be governed by many local factors and roles played by rebel leaders.
Modi, Yogi and Amit Shah are the key leaders who will take charge of BJP’s election campaign in Rajasthan. Outcome in Rajasthan is highly unpredictable but may turn out completely in favor of BJP if people don’t approve the functioning of newly formed Congress government.
Rallies, meetings, promises and happenings in the next few months will determine who takes away chunk of seats in Rajasthan. Time will reveal what role Rajasthan plays in forming of government at center.
